Summary
During 2008 the Trauma Group has made major contributions
in trauma education and research both nationally and
internationally. The“hands on training”in point of care ultrasound
continued to flourish with introduction of a new course on
Emergency Ultrasound. The group has run four courses in 2008,
now published 14 papers related to trauma in international
refereed journals, and presented more than twenty five abstracts
with oral presentations at national and international meetings.
The results of a major interdisciplinary grant “road traffic collision
injuries”were analyzed and presented internationally and were
highly appreciated. This includes full details of 1007 motor
vehicle collisions collected over one and a half years .
Mission
Our mission is to promote and perform research and education
of a high standard in the field of trauma so as to improve patient
care.
MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE TRAUMA GROUP IN 2008
INCLUDE:
A) Road Traffic Collision Registry
This project has run as planned and was successfully completed.
We have collected detailed information on 1007 patients involved
in road traffic collisions and pre-event information over one
and a half years and data were analyzed. These data were
presented at national and international meetings. A web-based
road traffic collision registry has been established (Fig 1).
B) Participation in Scientific Courses
The Trauma Group was actively involved in the organization
and conduct of numerous courses.
