LAWS 295 Contemporary Issues in Legal Studies:<br />
An analysis of current topics that arise such as: conflict resolution, technology and the law,<br />
health law, privacy rights and other topics. Specific topics to be covered will be announced<br />
by the program director. 3 sem. hrs. 3 crs.<br />
LAWS 340 Business Law II:<br />
Commercial paper, agency, corporate and partnership law; creditor-borrower relations; secured<br />
transactions; insurance; bankruptcy; and property law are some of the areas under study.<br />
Prerequisite: LAWS 120. 3 sem. hrs. 3 crs.<br />
LAWS 345 (BHSC 345) Employment Law:<br />
This course will explore the legislation that impacts employer/employee relationships in our<br />
society. Emphasis will be placed on the regulatory environment applicable to employment law<br />
and will focus on understanding the principles of the most commonly litigated issues such<br />
as: discrimination, sexual harassment, whistle blowing/employer retaliation and the impact<br />
of these lawsuits in the workplace. 3 sem. hrs. 3 crs.<br />
LAWS 355 (PSYN 355, SOCL 355, POLS 355) Mediation Theory and Practice:<br />
This course examines the theory and practical application of mediation. Integration of ethical<br />
and policy issues and application through role play. Study of how the various applications<br />
affect the mediation process and the court’s role in the development of mediation. Role play<br />
is an important component of this course. Prerequisite: LAWS/PSYN/SOCL/POLS 255. 3<br />

LAWS 360 (PSYN 355, SOCL 355, POLS 355) Practicum in Conflict Resolution:<br />
This course assists students in bringing together the theoretical and practical skills developed<br />
in the program through case studies and field projects. Co/Prerequisites: LAWS/PSYN/SOCL/<br />
POLS 256 or PSYN/SOCL/POLS 355. 3 sem. hrs. 3 crs.<br />
LAWS 361 (POLS 361) Constitutional Law and Policy:<br />
An examination of major constitutional problems in the United States; analysis of Supreme Court<br />
decisions concerning federalism; separation of powers; individual rights. 3 sem. hrs. 3 crs.<br />
LAWS 380-381 Cooperative Education in Laws, I and II:<br />
This course is designed to link college with the world of work by assisting students to obtain<br />
meaningful, academically relevant work experience directly related to their career goals.<br />
Possible placement sites for students in legal studies include dispute resolution centers,<br />
courts, law offices, corporations and government offices. Students' professional development<br />
is enhanced through meetings with a faculty advisor and structured assignments based on the<br />
work experience. Cooperative Education office approval required. 3 crs. per sem.<br />
LAWS 401 Survey of Environmental Law:<br />
A survey of Federal and New York laws relating to environmental protection and hazardous<br />
waste materials which are of interest to the safety professional. 3 sem. hrs. 3 crs.<br />

This course introduces students to a variety of information resources and services useful in<br />
college and the workplace. The course emphasizes locating and using these resources, as well<br />
