New York State Aid to Native Americans<br />

New York State Aid to Native Americans is an entitlement program with neither a<br />

qualifying examination nor a limited number of awards. Students may be eligible for<br />

an award of up to $1000 per academic year for a maximum of four years of full time<br />

study. Applications are made through NYS HESC at www.hesc.org.<br />

<strong>Mercy</strong> <strong>College</strong> Scholarships are awarded primarily on the basis of superior academic<br />

performance, demonstrated financial need, and the students’ potential contribution to<br />

the intellectual life of the <strong>College</strong>. In addition to applying for the following scholarships,<br />

the FAFSA should be filed by February 15th. These scholarships are generally available<br />

to new incoming freshmen, transfer students and continuing students.<br />

<strong>Mercy</strong> Assistance Grant<br />

<strong>Mercy</strong> <strong>College</strong> offers need-based tuition grants to supplement federal and state aid.<br />

Application is made by completing the FAFSA. Based on the Estimated Family<br />

Contribution, full time students will be allocated funds to assist them in meeting their<br />

financial obligations to the <strong>College</strong>. Students who receive non-need based grants<br />

from sources outside <strong>Mercy</strong> <strong>College</strong> may have their MAG awards reduced and/or<br />

cancelled.<br />

<strong>Mercy</strong> Opportunity Scholarship<br />

Any new freshman or transfer student, who has an EFC (Estimated Family Contribution)<br />

of Zero and registers full time, is eligible to receive a <strong>Mercy</strong> Opportunity Scholarship<br />

(MOS). This “Gap Scholarship” is valued up to $1,100.<br />

<strong>Mercy</strong> <strong>College</strong> Freshman Scholarship<br />

Scholarships are awarded to outstanding entering freshmen students who have<br />

demonstrated academic merit by achieving a high school average of 85 to 86.9.<br />

Scholarship awards are renewable for the duration of the undergraduate degree as long<br />

as the recipient meets the conditions for retaining the award.<br />

Freshman Trustees Scholarship<br />

Scholarships are awarded to outstanding entering freshmen students who have<br />

demonstrated academic merit by achieving a high school average of 87 or higher.<br />

Scholarship awards are renewable for the duration of the undergraduate degree as long<br />

as the recipient meets the conditions for retaining the award.
