MGMT 235 Foundations of Risk Management:<br />

An introduction to fundamental probability and theoretical concepts of risk as it pertains to<br />

public and private sector environments. This course is designed to familiarize the student<br />

with identifying and responding to various risks, threats and vulnerabilities in the context<br />

of theoretical and real world scenarios. The course will explore proactive and reactive risk<br />

management theories as well as identification of and response to different levels of crisis.<br />

Prerequisite: MATH 115 Mathematics for the Liberal Arts. 3 sem. hrs., 3 crs.<br />

MGMT 340 Organizational Behavior:<br />

This management course focuses on people, the human resource of the firm. Individual and<br />

group behavior are explored. Motivational theory and techniques will be examined. Case<br />

studies and incidents analysis are used. Prerequisite: MGMT 225. 3 sem. hrs. 3 crs.<br />

MGMT 345 (PSYN 345) Industrial Psychology:<br />

Introduction to industrial and organizational psychology including personnel selection and<br />

training; assessment of aptitude, ability, and attitude; employee relations and motivation;<br />

work environment; advertising; and consumer research. Prerequisites: MGMT 225; PSYN 101.<br />

3 sem. hrs. 3 crs.<br />

MGMT 348 (MKTG 348) Sales Management:<br />

The managing of a sales force including sales organization; sales force recruitment, selection, and<br />

training; compensation, supervision, and motivation of the sales organization; sales planning;<br />

sales analysis and control. Prerequisites: MGMT 225; MKTG 220. 3 sem. hrs. 3 crs.<br />

MGMT 380-381 Cooperative Education in Management, I and II:<br />

This course is designed to link college with the world of work by assisting students to obtain<br />

meaningful, academically relevant work experiences directly related to their career goals.<br />

Possible placement sites for students in Management include corporations, small businesses,<br />

banks, and financial institutions. Students' professional development is enhanced through<br />

meetings with a faculty advisor and structured assignments based on the work experience.<br />

Cooperative Education office approval required. Open Elective credit only.<br />

MGMT 399 Internship in Management:<br />

Students majoring in business are given an opportunity to supplement classroom learning<br />

with on-the-job experience. The Division assists students in finding appropriate compensated<br />

opportunities and insuring that the actual work is a meaningful supplement to the undergraduate<br />

classroom experience. Prerequisites: Completion of 60 credits, a minimum index in the major of<br />

3.0 and the approval of the school dean. This course may not be used as a major level business<br />

course. Open elective credit only. 3 crs.<br />

MGMT 425 Managerial Behavior – Leading in Modern Organizations:<br />

An exploration of the ideas and forces that shape the process of management in the world’s<br />

communities. Particular emphasis will be placed on the managerial decision making process<br />

and its linkage to subsequent behaviors in the organization and/or the larger society. Leadership<br />

will be introduced as a necessary subset of effective organizational role. The major dynamic of<br />

this course will be dedicated to ensuring a student outcome where leadership and management<br />

are not seen as separable nor practiced independently. Topics will include: globalization,<br />

intercultural management, dealing with diversity, project management, separating the important<br />

from the trivial and the effective resolution of conflict. 3 sem. hrs. 3 crs.<br />

MGMT 435 Advanced Risk Management:<br />

Advanced probability analysis of contemporary corporate security and loss prevention issues,<br />

strategies and solutions. Comprehensive study includes: advanced statistical and theoretical<br />

analysis of internal and external threats/vulnerabilities, business continuity planning, crisis<br />

intervention and response, impact assessment and risk insurability. This senior level course is<br />

designed to provide an enhanced repertoire of knowledge to the future professional corporate<br />

risk manager. Prerequisite: MGMT 235 Foundations of Risk Management, or with approval<br />

from program director. 3 sem. hrs., 3 crs.
