Broadband Internet access (cable, DSL, FiOS) and recent versions of Internet<br />
Explorer or Firefox are required. Students must have their own Internet Service<br />
Provider. While not required, a sound card and speakers or headphones are<br />
recommended.<br />
Guidelines for Online Participation<br />
Before taking any online courses, <strong>Mercy</strong> Online students should complete a general<br />
orientation for online learning www.mercy.edu/mercyonline/studentorientation.<br />
htm and a Blackboard orientation https://www.mercy.edu/mercyonline/course_<br />
orientation.swf<br />
For each course, students are expected to participate no less than three times<br />
each week. (For accelerated programs, students are expected to participate<br />
more frequently.) Participation includes reading course material, contributing<br />
to discussions, completing assignments, etc. Most courses require students to<br />
compose and post at least four substantive messages per week, more for accelerated<br />
programs. Some courses may have additional requirements. Failure to meet these<br />
requirements could affect the final grade for the course.<br />
Exams and Testing<br />
Professors have different exam, testing and grading requirements for their courses.<br />
Courses may require a visit to a <strong>Mercy</strong> <strong>College</strong> campus for proctored mid-term<br />
or final exams. Non-regional students are required to identify proctors for these<br />
exams. Proctors must be approved by <strong>Mercy</strong> Online, and it is the responsibility of<br />
the student to reimburse proctors for their services. Detailed information about the<br />

Physical Education<br />

In addition to intramural and intercollegiate sports, the <strong>College</strong> offers courses for credit<br />
in Physical Education. (See Physical Education Course Description.) Up to six credits of<br />
Physical Education in the non-liberal arts elective area may be applied toward degree<br />
requirements.<br />

Karol Marcinkowski University of Medical Science<br />
<strong>Mercy</strong> <strong>College</strong> and the Karol Marcinkowski University of Medical Science have an<br />
articulation agreement whereby matriculated students at <strong>Mercy</strong> <strong>College</strong> majoring in<br />
Biology and are interested in going to medical school are secured placement at the<br />
Karol Marcinkowski University of Medical Science in Poland.<br />
Students must complete 90 credits of undergraduate course work at <strong>Mercy</strong> <strong>College</strong> and<br />
must maintain a “B” average (3.0) throughout their matriculation at the <strong>College</strong>. Upon<br />
completion of the undergraduate course work students begin a four-year medical<br />
program at the University in Poznan, Poland. All courses taken at the University<br />
