STANDARDS
Indal products comply with applicable standards, particularly:
- EN 60598 for luminaires,
- EN 40 for columns,
- EN 62262 for impact resistance of enclosures (IK),
- EN 60529 for degrees of protection of enclosures (IP),
- EN 55015 and EN 61000 for electromagnetic compatibility.
Standard EN 40 relating to columns
All the compositions have been made in strict compliance with standard
EN 40. For any requests for products that are not in the catalogue or for
stronger wind zones, please contact our sales support department if we
can design products to meet your personalised resistance requirements
of your project.

PROTECTION OF ENCLOSURES (ip)
European standard EN 40 applies to all public lighting columns made of
steel, aluminium, composite or concrete as well as straight columns that do
not exceed 20 meters, columns with brackets that do not exceed 18 meters
and straight columns fitted with spotlights that are less than 15 meters
high.
Standard EN 40 defines the methodology of verification of a column by
calculation or by mechanical testing. It also specifies the compliance
tests that are to be carried out while manufacturing columns. It requires
CE certification for columns.
All public lighting columns made of steel and aluminium are calculated
by our R&D department according to:
- EN 40-3-1 Specification for characteristic loads,
- EN 40-3-3 Verification by calculation.
A verification by calculation takes into account all the fixing elements of
columns such as anchor bolts, base plates, columns, bracket mounting,
bracket or brackets, luminaire or luminaires and accessories.
CE CERTIFICATION OF COLUMNS
CE certification is mandatory. It authorises the release of products in the
market. Certification is issued by organisations notified by the Member
States of the European Union.
A label with the CE mark is put on all columns, on the service door.
The label also bears the name of the company, the number of the certifying
organisation, the approval number of the company and the product code.
With every invoice, you will be given a document with general information
about the product and its agreed conventional value. That conventional
value is calculated on the basis of the elements defined by the standard for
the 24 m/s wind area, the terrain category 2 and the deformation class 3.
