Historic luminaires of the City of Brussels, Léopold and Sablon bear witness to the period of the grands
travaux (major works), carried out in the 19th century by King Leopold II. This king, nicknamed “The Builder
King” was responsible for transforming the City of Brussels into an international renowned capital. Lighting
rue Ducale, rue Lambermont, in the area of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart (Léopold version) or rue au
Beure, rue Royale, close to the Grand Place and around Brussels Park (Sablon version), these luminaires are
found in Brussels symbolic places.
