1.6 <strong>DLI</strong> <strong>Implementation</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Reference</strong> <strong>Guide</strong><br />

Chapter 1: "Getting Started" (This chapter) This chapter introduces the Adobe<br />

PDF Library <strong>and</strong> <strong>DLI</strong>, including an overview of page creation, <strong>and</strong> describes the<br />

contents of this book, including enhancements in new releases of <strong>DLI</strong>.<br />

Chapter 2: "Initializing <strong>and</strong> Terminating the Library" describes<br />

initialization <strong>and</strong> termination of the Adobe PDF Library.<br />

Chapter 3: "Beginning <strong>and</strong> Ending a Document" describes all of the<br />

methods used to begin <strong>and</strong> end a document.<br />

Chapter 4: "Fonts" discusses creation <strong>and</strong> arrangement of fonts.<br />

Chapter 5: "Multibyte Text Work" discusses the <strong>DLI</strong> methods available for<br />

creating <strong>and</strong> manipulating multibyte text.<br />

Chapter 6: "Working with Pages" <strong>DLI</strong> assumes that pages will be added to the<br />

end of the document only. A page is represented by a data structure named<br />

DLPDFPAGE. This chapter explains the Page Interface <strong>and</strong> defines the calls available at<br />

this level.<br />

Chapter 7: "Containers within Pages" describes containers within pages, <strong>and</strong><br />

provides examples of various applications.<br />

Chapter 8: "Working with Content" The Content Interface contains the bulk of<br />

the interface. At this level, you make marks on paper. Those marks may be on a Page<br />

or on a Forms XObject. They may be text, line drawings or images. A content element<br />

is represented by the structure DLPDFCONTENT. This chapter explains the Content<br />

Interface <strong>and</strong> defines the calls available at this level.<br />

Chapter 9: "Working with Forms" Forms XObjects are represented via the<br />

structure DLPDFFORM. This chapter explains forms, <strong>and</strong> defines the calls available.<br />

Chapter 10: "Displaying Line Drawings" describes line drawings <strong>and</strong> the<br />

different approaches, including directly-drawn <strong>and</strong> path-drawn methods.<br />

Chapter 11: "Image Display" describes images as a predefined collection of<br />

shapes <strong>and</strong> colors.
