Accessing Fonts
Font access for the Library is dependent on both the Adobe PDF Library version and
the operating system. It is explained in the Adobe PDF Library Overview manual for
all systems other than OS/390.
OS/390 Font Access
For OS/390, the font access method is based on the UNIX method for v1 of the
Library. It will attempt to locate resources via several methods, in this sequence:
1 It will first look for a DD statement named ADOBERES
2 If that is not found, it will look for the PDS member
SYS1.PARMLIB(ADOBERES)
3 If that is not found, it will look for
ADOBE.PDFLIB.RESOURCE.INDEX(ADOBERES).
4 CMAPS are found by looking for
ADOBE.PDFLIB.RESOURCE.INDEX(ADOBECMP).
The ADOBERES listing found at one of those locations is assumed to be a pointer to a
listing of 1 entry: ADOBE.PDFLIB.RESOURCE.INDEX(FONTS). The content of
these files is expected to be encoded using EBCDIC.
The ADOBECMP listing has 1 entry: ADOBE.PDFLIB.RESOURCE.INDEX(CMAPS)
This member contains a lookup table for the CMAP files.

Hooray! Your file is uploaded and ready to be published.
