Unicode Text Support<br />

Unicode text support is available for customers using Adobe PDF Library v5.x or<br />

higher. It is highly recommended that customers use CIDType2 fonts whenever<br />

possible when setting Unicode text. CIDType2 fonts may be created from most system<br />

TrueType <strong>and</strong> OpenType fonts.<br />

Code Page Support<br />

Users of Adobe PDF Library v5.x (or higher) <strong>and</strong> CIDType2 fonts are also able to<br />

access automatic translations for many Windows <strong>and</strong> Macintosh platform encodings.<br />

Text to be set in these fonts should be in a NULL-terminated string in the one-byte<br />

platform encoding the font was created with. <strong>DLI</strong> <strong>and</strong> the Adobe PDF Library will<br />

automatically translate this into a string of 2-byte GID values.<br />

Performance Considerations<br />

Creation of fonts can be resource-intensive. For users creating multiple documents,<br />

the DLPDFINSTANCE structure for a document caches most information for fonts
