3.17.4 Equipment A number of commercial instruments have been developed for measuringinternal stresses using BN. Figure 3.39 shows the Rollscan and Stresscan instruments developed by American Stress Technologies, Inc. The Rollscan instrument is a one- to four-channel instrument designed for semiautomatic testing when used with mechanical handling equipment that can rotate the part while simultaneously moving the measurement head so that the entire surface can be scanned. The Stresscan instrument is a lightweight, battery operated, fully portable, programmable, single-channel unit with keyboard entry.
