society. As the first company in Turkey to publish its sustainability activities in a<br />

report in 2008, CCİ again blazed a new trail by publishing its second sustainability<br />

report last year. CCİ is the first company in Turkey that reports at GRI-B level.<br />

Moreover, the scope of the report was widened to cover Kazakhstan and Jordan<br />

operations as well.<br />

The focal point of the environmental policies adopted by CCİ in parallel with<br />

the Coca-Cola system is the prevention of harmful effects caused by climate<br />

change through the conservation of water resources, use of sustainable<br />

packaging and effective energy management. The Company develops and<br />

implements projects in reusing, recycling, and disposing of waste without<br />

harming the environment and efficient use of natural resources taking into<br />

consideration the needs of future generations.<br />

Some of the projects developed by Anadolu Efes within its<br />

Environmental Management System include:<br />

2A. Reduction of Carbon Emissions<br />

Climate change is in the top position in the world’s agenda. Anadolu Efes<br />

closely monitors the issue of climate change which has the potential for global<br />

catastrophe. The Company actively works to fulfill its responsibilities in this area.<br />

Anadolu Efes invested in steam boilers and natural gas/LNG transformation<br />

projects between the years 2005-2010 and switched to use of environmentalfriendly<br />

natural gas/LNG in all its facilities.<br />

The Company has made significant progress in the reduction of CO 2 emissions<br />

as a result of improvements in production technologies and implementation<br />

of efficient fuel and electricity consumption policies. CO2 emission per unit<br />

product in Turkey beer operations have been reduced in the breweries by 26.7<br />

percent and malteries by 26.8 percent in the last five years, a clear indictor of<br />

our success.<br />

Aware of problems that may result from climate change, CCİ goes to great<br />

lengths to fulfill its own responsibilities. As the first company in Turkey which<br />

regularly reports the impact of its operations on the environment, CCİ is<br />
