As a result, the appropriate group alarm is active and is used together with the individual alarms for all areas of the alarm system. If a group alarm is acknowledged, then the triggering alarm is also acknowledged as long as it is valid. This also applies to bypassing alarms. 4.11.10 Bypass and Acknowledgement Images In addition to the alarm bit field, two more connections of individual alarms can be made between the Visual Components alarm system and the control application. The user then has the option to acknowledge or bypass the alarms. 4.11.10.1 Usage The alarm bit fields for bypass and acknowledgement use the same indexing (item numbering). In other words, the alarm in item [2] of the alarm bit field is connected with the acknowledgement information in item [2] of the acknowledgement bit field and the bypass information in item [2] of the bypass bit field. 4.11.10.1.1 Bypass Bit Field In the bypass bit field, the alarm system records whether the appropriate alarm was bypassed. In this way, a block caused by the alarm can be bypassed using the controller. A data element in the bypass bit field is 0 if the alarm is bypassed, and 1 if the alarm is not bypassed. Evaluation of the bypass must take place in the control application. The alarm system only provides the necessary control elements and the bypass bit field for the application. 4.11.10.1.2 Acknowledgement Bit Field This bit field contains information concerning whether the appropriate alarm has been acknowledged. This information can be evaluated in the control application. A data element in the acknowledgement bit field is 1 if the alarm is acknowledged, and 0 if unacknowledged. Alarm latch implementation, which requires acknowledgement, is provided in the Visual Components alarm system display. Advanced alarm acknowledgement processes are very application specific and must be programmed in the control application. 4.11.10.2 Setting Parameters Introduction to Visual Components 2.3 Variables for the bypass and acknowledgement bit fields, if used, must have the same data type and length as the alarm bit field. This also applies if only alarms with a lower index are considered for bypass or acknowledgement in the application. 422 4.11.10 Bypass and Acknowledgement Images
Introduction to Visual Components 2.3 Variables for the bypass bit field are connected in the Alarm Group settings dialog box. Settings for a group of alarms can be accessed in the shortcut menu of Visual Components editor tree view. Group properties can be displayed where the bypass bit field and/or the acknowledgement bit field can be connected. In this dialog box, the appropriate bit fields can be entered under 'Bypass Image' and 'Acknowledgement Image'. Configuring whether an alarm can be bypassed (allowable by the alarm system) or whether an alarm can/must be acknowledged affects each alarm individually and is described in the appropriate section. 4.11.11 General − VISAPI 4.11.11.1 General Information A connection to a project must be established before a VISAPI function can be used. This is accomplished with the functions VA_Setup or VA_SetupX. These functions return a handle which must be transferred to all following VISAPI function calls.
