adaptation to disasters <strong>and</strong> climate changethrough a multidisciplinary approach.In <strong>2010</strong>, government invested Rs. 2,481million in the development <strong>of</strong> science <strong>and</strong>technology sector including Rs. 350million for Nanotechnology initiative <strong>and</strong>Multipurpose Gamma Irradiator Projectwhich helps increasing the hightechnology exports. It has been planned toincrease the high technology exports from1.5 percent to 10 percent by investing inthe fields <strong>of</strong> electronics, IT, Telecom,Biotech <strong>and</strong> Nano tech products.The Technology Transfer Programme(Vidatha Programme) is expected totransfer technology to the village level <strong>and</strong>the number <strong>of</strong> Vidatha Centres hasincreased to 260 in <strong>2010</strong> from 255 in 2009.However, there are some concerns whetherthe programme is capable <strong>and</strong> efficient tomeet the local <strong>and</strong> internationaltechnological challenges.
