It serves the information needs <strong>of</strong>the pr<strong>of</strong>essional staff <strong>of</strong> all thedepartments under the <strong>Ministry</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Finance</strong><strong>and</strong> <strong>Planning</strong> <strong>and</strong> out side researchers, aswell.The Library is committed to archiving thehighest st<strong>and</strong>ards in the provision <strong>of</strong>information resources <strong>and</strong> services thatadvance the departments activities.Collection DevelopmentA Considerable number <strong>of</strong> publications<strong>and</strong> documents were added to therepository, which the library maintains onSri Lankan economic <strong>and</strong> sectoral policy. Purchased various document toimprove the information. Maintained the special collectionon World Bank publications,United National Documents,Documents from otherInternational Agencies, SAARCCollection, Research studies <strong>and</strong>publication on different subjects. Subscribed to subject relatedjournals to strengthen theperiodical collection.. Continued books exchangeprogrammes with the local <strong>and</strong>foreign libraries <strong>and</strong> institutions.Organization <strong>of</strong> the Library Acquiring <strong>and</strong> classifyingincoming material. Upgrading the periodical section. Processing material before they aremade available to users. Upgrading <strong>and</strong> re-arranging thelibrary book collection.Circulation, Inquiry <strong>and</strong> ReferenceServices Attended to inquiries oninformation needs. Provided literature searches basedon computer data bases. Developed <strong>and</strong> maintained acomputerized system forcirculation. Indexed periodicals <strong>and</strong> newspaperarticles.
