Providing Residential Facilities forNurses in TH, Anuradhapura.- Rs. 3.5MnThe following tasks were done in <strong>2010</strong>-(i). Coordinating the efforts in theestablishment <strong>of</strong> Clinical Trials Initiativesin Sri Lanka. Three steering committeemeetings were held. A new Regulatory Act<strong>and</strong> several Acts to regulate the healthsector including clinical trials are beingdrafted by the <strong>Ministry</strong> <strong>of</strong> Health <strong>and</strong> thesewill be gazetted in the near future.(ii). Several stake holder meetings wereheld by the department on the 2 nd HealthSector Development Project with a view toaddressing the challenges <strong>of</strong> an ageingpopulation <strong>and</strong> the changing disease trend(addressing to NCD's). Also sector specificdiscussions were conducted on relevanttopics such as human resourcedevelopment, health financing options <strong>and</strong>183
