Software Operation ManualTriple ParityTriple Parity is essentially an extension of RAID level 6 which allows for additional faulttolerance by using a third independent distributed parity scheme. Data is striped on a blocklevel across a set of drives, just like in RAID 6, and a third set of parity is calculated and writtenacross all the drives; triple parity provides superb data fault tolerance and can sustain up tothree drive failures. The extra security does not sacrifice performance is one of manyadvantage triple parity provides.Triple Parity: Independent data disks with distributed parity blocksCharacteristics:Recommended use:• Each entire data block is written on a data disk.Parity for blocks in the same rank is generated• File and applicationserverson Writes, recorded in a distributed location and • Database serverschecked on Reads.• WWW, E-mail and News• High Read data transaction, medium Write data serverstransaction rate.• Intranet servers• Relatively low ratio of ECC (Parity) disks to datadisks means high efficiency (compared to otherRAID levels).• Most versatile Raid level• Good aggregate transfer rate.• Storage capacity = (No. of disks – 3) × (capacityof smallest disk)- 95 -
