As in previous years,turnover was higher in North America and Asia,the regions with the strongest growth ratesand the fastest moving employment markets.The effects of staff turnover combined withexternal growth engenders regular renewal ofthe Group’s teams: 35% of the workforce has beenwith <strong>BNP</strong> <strong>Paribas</strong> for less than five years.Employee diversityRespect for people and cultural sensitivityrepresent two of <strong>BNP</strong> <strong>Paribas</strong>’ founding principles.The Group has continued to take steps aimedat creating international teams, promotingemployee diversity and preventing all formsof discrimination.An international workforceBy employing local people, <strong>BNP</strong> <strong>Paribas</strong> directlycontributes to the development of the countriesin which it operates and therefore is naturallyintegrated into the different cultures andcommunities concerned. The Group also takessteps to ensure that local employees gain accessto senior positions within its subsidiaries andbranches and intentionally restricts the numberof expatriate posts.Positions occupied by expatriate staff,of which 22% are held by non-French employees,primarily concern the global business lines ofthe Corporate and Investment Banking Division,and are predominantly located in majorinternational financial centres such as New York,London, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Singapore.
