STARTING IN COLD WEATHEROPERATING THE ENGINEPreheating1. Pull the pilot control shut-off lever up to the LOCKposition.2. Turn engine control dial (1) to around the middle betweenthe L and H positions.3. Insert key switch (2). Turn key switch (2) ON.4. The machine will automatically check if preheating isrequired or not. When preheating is required, preheatindicator (3) is lit for approx. 8 seconds.1M178-03-002NOTE: In case, preheat indicator (3) doesn’t come ON,preheating is not required.25. Sound horn to alert bystanders.6. As soon as preheat indicator (3) goes OFF, turn thekey switch (2) to the START position to rotate thestarter.IMPORTANT: Prevent starter damage.Never operate starter motor for morethan 10 seconds at a time. If engine failsto start, return key switch to OFF. Waitfor more than 30 seconds, then try again.After a false start, do not turn key switchuntil engine stops or starter may bedamaged.M178-01-0497.
