If respondent responses disagree strongly, response is given (1) pointsIn this regard, high points that a tested questionnaire respondent obtains throughresponding one statement or all statements indicates high commitment and concern tosafety, quality, and productivity measures.Ordinal scale, which is a ranking or rating data that normally uses integers inascending or descending order, has been used to calculate relative index of each factorof questionnaire. The numbers assigned to the agreement or degree of influence (1, 2,3, 4, and 5) do not indicate that the interval between scales are equal, nor do theyindicate absolute quantities. They are merely numerical labels (Naoum, 1998). Thequestionnaire included 8 main parts as follows (See Appendix 1):Part I: Personal InformationThis part of questionnaire is related to the company profile in order to elaborate someimportant information that would enrich the research background. Informationelaborated from questionnaire included year of establishment, field of work,classification, number of engineers and workers, and cost of projects implementedwithin last five years, etc.Part II: Occupational Safety and HealthThis part generalizes basic information about the company profile in the fieldOccupational Safety and Health (OSH). This part is important since it draws thereader attention as to how the company considers OSH and the way OSH concept isdelivered to employees through top management. Questions of this part includedwhether the company has safety program, safety training, top managementcommitment, accident reports, type of injuries, and safety meetings, etc.Part III: Linkage between Quality and Occupational SafetyThis part and the coming parts constitute the main body of thesis objectives. This partis focused on whether a linkage between quality and safety exists in constructionprojects. Questions in this part included company's OSH policy, safety objectives,45
OSH and quality measures, OSH organization, OSH related training, OSH laws, OSHmonitoring, accident and injuries reporting, and labor, etc.46
