<strong>Hunter</strong> e36 • Waste and Sanitation Systems10.5.2 MaintenanceNo maintenance is required on your macerator pump.Helpful Hint: Should the macerator pump become clogged, youcan manually rotate the internal grinder wheels by removingthe small plastic cap on the back of the macerator pump. Thisencloses the screw which is attached to the grinding wheels andby inserting a flat screwdriver, you can rotate the wheels andpossibly remove any debris clogging the pump.10.5.3 Shower SumpFig. 10.7PUMP OUT STATIONThe shower sump is controlled by a rocker switch on thevanity face.10.5.3.1 MaintenanceClean strainer at pump. While no maintenance is requiredon the pump itself, you do need to ensure that the holdingtank is clean and free of debris for the operation tobe functional.10.5.4 Holding TankThe holding tank must be cleaned or pumped out when itbecomes nearly full. There are two methods for removingwaste from the holding tank, either by pumping overboardin coastal waters, or by dockside pump-out at a wastefacility.10.5.4.1 Overboard Pump-out OperationSee the macerator operation guide, Section 10.5.5.2, forinstructions on how to pump out the holding tank.10.5.4.3 MaintenanceMaintenance on the holding tanks is best described asensuring no methane gas is leaked and to keep odorsdown to a minimum. Any deodorizer may be used aslong as it contains no alcohols or strong chemicals. Steerclear of drain opening type chemicals or strong bleachingtype agents.10.6 Toilets10.6.1 Toilet OperationEnsure that the fresh water system is operational.Instructions for operating the electric head are mountedat the toilet. Follow these carefully.10.5.6.2 Toilet MaintenanceClean with mild cleaners and consult your owner’s packetfor further instructions.Important: U.S. Coast Guard regulations require that boatshave a sanitation system on board to control pollution. Wasteis to be stored in a holding tank or other device so it can beproperly disposed of at a shore facility. Discharging this wasteoverboard in U.S. lakes, rivers, bays, and sounds and within 3miles of shore in international waters is prohibited. Check withthe Coast Guard regarding regulations in your area.10.5.4.2 Dockside Waste RemovalTo remove waste from the holding tank at a docksidewaste facility, insert the hose from the pump-out facilityinto the waste access on the coaming (Fig. 10.7) of yourboat and follow instructions at the facility. Instructionsfrom one facility to another may vary.10.6
