Ourmain focus is on the disabled children from the lower socioeconomic group. Currently there are 30 students with 4special educator, onephysiotherapist, 3 helpers, 1 cook, 1 watch man apart fromthe super indent and the director.• PROJECT’S ACTIVITIES To empower people with disability to become activecontributors in the society• COMMUNITY CONTEXT Ashraya is situated in a residential area of middle classurban area of Bangalore north. Students are transportedfrom their homes by hired vehicle of Ashraya.• VOLUNTEER’S REQUIREMENTS Anyone who is willing to work with the mentallychallenged children who have associated problems withphysical disability, attention deficits etc. A background oftechnical knowledge and skills would be helpful. A personwith administrative skills is also helpful, fund raises, cooksetc.• VOLUNTEER’S TASKS Working with special children from deprived background.Taking care of the special children and assisting them intheir barring tasks. Getting involved with the children intheir daily activities. The students are divided into 3 groupsaccording to their age. The volunteers are placed in eachgroup for a considerable period of time to learn how to dealwith these children and to be able to observe the teachersand learn from them. The volunteer would be able tointeract with the parents of the children along with theteachers.• HOST SITUATION Food and accommodation will be provide in host family
