That has beenrun for 10 years were around 150 children’s from UKG to 5th STD. Age grouped from 5yrs to 12years. This is the private school. We have onprinciple, four teachers and two care takers. Thisschool follows the Syllabus of GOVT of India. Allthe children’s are coming from different villages.Ramasamudhram is a small town and surroundedfrom many villages. All the children’s are comingfrom poor poverty. This school has got four smallclassrooms. UKG and LKG sits together out of theschool in open place.Helping Hands for the under privileged, supportseducation for the children whose parents cannotafford their children’s education and lackmotivation. This school is situated in a backwardarea which lacks facilities.• PROJECT’S ACTIVITIES Helping Hands for the Under Priviliged,recognises the participation of volunteers to helpthem in day to day activities such as teaching,handicrafts, singing, playing music, organisingsome special events or activities for the parents andthe community that lives around the school.The volunteers get an opportunity to interact withthe local community and this direct contact helpsthem to understand the different - culture, socialcare & environment. Further, it promotes thevolunteers to a learning experience, for theirpersonal and professional developments.Generally, the volunteer will work for about 30 to35 hours a week, 6 to 7 hours a day and shall havetwo days off, every week.In this project there are 7 staffs involved..4 of themare teaching the children and one is office staff andother two people are cook.• COMMUNITY CONTEXT Ramasamudhram is a Rural under developed areain the border of the Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.120km far from Bangalore. It’s a bigger town inthe region with many small business and shops.Therefore you can purchase many products. Thepopulation consists of rich local merchants on theone hand and poor land less daily wagers on theother, as well as an unusually Muslim minority.It’s a dry area with a short let autumn monsoon andlongest but lighter spring monsoon; being part ofthe Deccan land the summer can be quite hot. InRamasamudram there is also the hospital andinternet café.• VOLUNTEER’S REQUIREMENTS Boys and girls welcome but same gender at a time.In the village no alcohol drinking and no smoking.
