Special concern for children andwomen.Through the help of LEED the people should learnto overcome social evils like child marriages,dowry, neglecting of women, corruption, diseases.The goal is that everyone in the areas should beable to live a peaceful life with less worry andbecome a model for the change of the whole of theIndian society.• PROJECT’S ACTIVITIES• COMMUNITY CONTEXTLEED conducts various programs like AlternativeEducation, Activity classes for children, Childrencultural programmes, Small savings, TrainingProgrammes, Paper Product unit, Indo SwissCultural Exchange Programme, Sports Activities,Awareness Programmes, Scholarships, endowmentand Sponsorships, Summer Camps, Children’sBirth day celebration, Networking Programmes,Medical camps, Nutritive Foods, VocationalTraining, Employment exchange, Service industryetc.At present there are 6 staffs working in variousprograms we work among the children specially thechildren of daily wages, construction labours etc,youths and women of the area.The New LEED Centre is located in the slum areaon its North it has Coovam River, NelsonManickam road in south, west Namashivayapuramin west and railway track in east. The centre isfunctioning in No.114, East Namashivayapuram,Choolaimedu, Chennai 600094.The area has 9 streets with 700 families, 90% ofmen are daily wages, 8% of men are privateemployees and 2% of men are governmentemployees. Majority of women are servant maids,some women are employed in export companiesand very few are house wives. The area has onlythree grocery shops, number of petty shops andquite handsome number of pawnbroker shops. Inmost of the houses in the area instead of cookingpeople prefer to buy readymade food from the
