The group savemoney on regular basis according to their capacityor as decided in the group. The members take loanfor various purposes and the interest accuse to thegroup. Mature group are linking with the localbanks for financial assistance for various projectsand purposes.C. income generation programme: The self-helpgroup are linked with the banks for financialassistance for different purposes especially for pettybusinesses as domestic animal husbandry, milkvending, vegetable and fruit vending, petty shops,etc, several women have been very successful inusing this facility to own the source of theirpersonal as well as augment their income.D. skill training: Skill training is form of incomegeneration activity that is undertaken by SUMANA.In this activity, the young women are trained indifferent skills of their choice after which theyobtain financial assistance from the banks throughtheir self-help groups to practice and earn from theirnew skill. Tailoring and embroidery, pottery,bakery, motor driving for their sons, etc.,. Havebeen successfully conducted free of cost bySUMANA.E. community health: Creating awareness ondifferent aspects of health, environmental andpersonal hygiene, preventive and curative education
of health are of primary concern to us, we organizehealth check up and health education camps.F. HIV/ AIDS programme: SUMANA is apioneer origination in creating awareness onHIV/AIDS in mysore, manday, kodagu andchamarajanagar districts. With over 13 years ofexperience in this field, we are moving towards acare enter for infected people and their dependents.G. elected women representatives: In pursuit ofits political empowerment, SUMANA is one of thepartner agencies of the hunger project for traininggram panchayat elected women representatives.H computer education center: In a bid to engagethe rural youth, a job-oriented computer educationcenter has set up in mallahalli. SUMANA has madearrangement with a data entry center foremployment of benificaries from this center.I model school for village children: SUMANAhas opened a model school for rural children inmellahalli. The objective provides equalopportunity of modern education is among theunique facilities in this center.• COMMUNITY CONTEXTJ. home for the girl child: SUMANA has opened ahome for the girl child. These are orphans whosegrand parents are not able to cater for or girlchildren whose parents are not willing to educate.Sumana has dreams for the less privileged and withyour support, this dream can be realized.Main Project based in East Mysore, 12, kms fromcity centre in semi-fertile land near Bugathahallivillage.
