It has rightsbased as well as welfare-based activities. It hasabout 50 regular staff and a no. Of volunteers in thecommunity. Malleswaram Zone has 33 slumswhere Paraspara trust is working. It has more than30,000 populations with 70% Daliths and 20%Muslims. Paraspara trust started working with slumpopulating in 1997 with the goal of eradication ofchild labour system. After a study in slum,Paraspara trust decided to work with slumcommunity as part of a global strategy in thereaching of the main target, eradication of childlabour.• PROJECT’S ACTIVITIES Our Activities :• Child Labour Free Slums,• Building up CBOs,• Child labour parents association,• Rights promotion,• Sarva Dharma Coota (SDC),• Youth Associations and Mental health.• COMMUNITY CONTEXT Malleshwaram zone consists of 33 slumcommunities. Most of the inhabitants areeconomically and socially backward and belong tominority communities and scheduled castes. Theybelong to working class and speak Kannada, Tamil,Telugu or Urdu, as most of them are migrants.• VOLUNTEER’S REQUIREMENTS • Both sexes acceptable. Age no bar.• Able to communicate in English.• Outgoing, non-smoking (in the office &project area).• Interested in children.• Willing to participate in the programmesorganised by the organisation.• Computer skill.• VOLUNTEER’S TASKS The volunteer (one for the time being) would beassociated with the activities of Transit school. He/she organise special classes for the children indeveloping their skills. He/ her role would be of atrainer.The volunteer can take up projects on theindividual cases (of children) and analyse thefamily situation.
