This will havepositive impacts in improving the quality <strong>and</strong> quantity of honey.• In the survey result the majority of beekeepers are unable to transfer theircolonies, unable to harvest, some are not trained, <strong>and</strong> 55% box hives are empty.These all indicates the importance of adequate <strong>and</strong> practical training <strong>and</strong> strongextension both for beekeepers <strong>and</strong> development agents. Therefore, establishing<strong>and</strong> supporting regular training programs to develop experienced <strong>and</strong> skilledexperts, development agents <strong>and</strong> farmers in beekeeping management <strong>and</strong>marketing should be the major concern.• Efforts should also be geared to alleviate the main constraints that hinderedbeekeeping development in the district. Therefore, there is a great need forattention in providing beekeeping equipments, minimizing of the effect ofchemicals with involvement of regional government by developing strategies, <strong>and</strong>planting multipurpose <strong>and</strong> drought resistant honey bee flora, conservation ofexisting vegetation, integrating beekeeping with agro-forestry <strong>and</strong> cropproduction is important.Among many issues come across, it is suggested that the following are important areasthat deserve future research <strong>and</strong> major areas of intervention.• Promote beekeeping sub-sector strategy that would be applicable to differentproduction systems.• The effect of agrochemicals application on honeybees <strong>and</strong> means of minimizationtheir effect should be addressed.• Further studies shall be under taken for confirming species diversity, structure <strong>and</strong>composition of honey bee flora <strong>and</strong> poisonous plant to bees.• <strong>Honeybee</strong> diseases which were elaborated locally by farmers should be confirmedby scientific research• Indigenous knowledge of farmers in beekeeping should be scientifically examined83
