Team MembersGUIDELINES AND PROCEDURESEach team shall be com posed of five mem bers, one freshair base at ten dant and one as sis tant (op tional). Each mem -ber shall wear a num ber on the arm at or near the shoul derswith num ber one (1) be ing as signed to the cap tain, thenum ber six (6) to the fresh air base at ten dant and seven (7)to the as sis tant. Switching of num bers by team mem berswill not be per mit ted af ter ar riv ing at the por tal or fresh airbase. Any means of af fix ing leg i ble num bers on the sleeveof the uni form will be ac cept able. Ad di tional per sons, whohad been iso lated with the team, may as sist the team plac -ing equip ment prior to start ing the clock. Only the fresh airbase at ten dant and the as sis tant will be al lowed to as sist theteam af ter the clock has started. The fresh air base at ten dantand as sis tant will be iso lated from vi sual con tact with thefield while the teams are in the mine and will main tainvoice com mu ni ca tions with the team uti liz ing a por ta ble,hard wire, communications system. The assistant may ad -vise the fresh air base at ten dant and in ter act with the teamwhen they are at the fresh air base, how ever the as sis tantcan not sub sti tute for any one.Teams wishing to communicate with the fresh air baseattendant shall use their portable communication system, orthey must return to the fresh air base.Medical RequirementsAt the time of registration for the contest, a companyofficial must sign to verify all mine rescue team membershave completed physical examinations in the past 12months preceding the contest and are capable of performingstrenuous work under oxygen.6
