A team member must make the same checks onthe captain’s apparatus. The judges will observe theoperation and adjustment of the apparatus.The captain should see that the team line is properlystretched out and that the team members are holding or areattached to the team line.If a team encounters smoke, an apparatus check orpersonnel check is required before entering smoke. Insmoke, all team members must have hold of, or be fastenedto, a lifeline.The captain must now have the team count off eitherorally or visually by the raising of hands.The captain must give the signal to advance. The stretcherbearers should pick up the stretchers, and the rear captain16
