MULTI-GAS INSTRUMENT CONTESTGENERAL RULES1. One gas man will be al lowed for each team en tered inthe Mine Res cue Con test.2. Reg is tra tion will be made with the team reg is tra tion.3. Con tes tants will com pete in re verse or der from theteam's field draw ing or der.4. The Multi-Gas In stru ment Con test will be held at a timeand place des ig nated by the Con test Di rec tor. All writ -ten test ing will be con ducted in iso la tion. Con tes tantswill re main in iso la tion un til they fin ish the bench com -pe ti tion or they will be disqualified.5. Each con tes tant will be pro vided with a multi-gas in stru -ment, along with spare sen sors, bat ter ies, cal i bra tiongas, tub ing, reg u la tors, cal i bra tion hoods and the toolsnec es sary to com plete the prob lem.The cor rect gases and all nec es sary tools and equip mentto com plete the prob lem will be avail able at the work -sta tion. Only those tools and equip ment pro vided willbe used by con tes tants to work the prob lem.6. To tal dis counts of the writ ten, bench, and gas test ingwill de ter mine the win ner. In the event of a tie, the writ -ten test score will de ter mine the win ner. The to tal timeused for the bench and gas test ing will be the sec ond tie -breaker.7. At a pre-des ig nated time af ter the writ ten test, the testjudge will con duct a five-min ute re view of test an swers.8. When un planned de fi cien cies are en coun tered in the in -stru ment, the judges will no tify the con tes tants that thede fi ciency is not part of the prob lem. The judge willstop the clock and cor rect the de fi ciency as needed. Ifthe de fi cien cies are caused by the con tes tant the clockwill not be stopped.44
