Ifplacards have not been changed after 15 seconds, teamsmust assume that their actions were not successful.Inaccessible areas only need to be explored when thereare miners unaccounted for or if an explosive air/gasmixture will be moved through the unexplored areas.Teams may be required to pump water or set timbers toexplore inaccessible areas. If this is necessary, appropriatematerials will be provided in the problem.Only judges, contest officials, escorted photographers,<strong>and</strong> news media approved by the <strong>Contest</strong> Director or ChiefJudge will be permitted in the working areas.Insofar as possible, materials rather than placards will beused in the mine. Bodies with identification will bedesignated by the use of dummies. When placardsindicating conditions are used, they will be placed face up,<strong>and</strong> the letters shall not be less than one (1) inch in height,<strong>and</strong> easily visible.Additionally, when these placards are used to identifymining machinery or equipment, a description of thecurrent condition of the equipment <strong>and</strong>/or a photocopy of apicture of such machinery or equipment shall be on theplacard, when possible, to aid teams in identifying it.Terms used in the problem shall be terms which appear inthe Rule Book Glossary, the MSHA <strong>Mine</strong> <strong>Rescue</strong> TrainingModules, or CFR 30, Part 57.When raises, winzes or boreholes are in the problem, thecard identifying them will indicate whether they go up<strong>and</strong>/or down from the level.12
