8. This ap pa ra tus check must be made as soon as all teammem bers have passed through the re stricted area <strong>and</strong> be -fore any other work is done. Ad di tion ally, this ap pa ra tuscheck must be made im me di ately af ter any ap pa ra tushas sus tained a blow which might cause dam age to it.9. Examples of endangerment include, but are not limited to:a. 15 points will be assessed for each team memberwho:1. travels under bad roof or ground;2. travels into water over knee deep;3. travels over or under an open ore pass or orepocket into which they could fall or be injured byfalling objects;4. advances past a sign indicating intense heat or fireout of control;5. fails to take body substance isolation (BSI)precautions before physically contacting a patientb. The entire team will be considered endangered <strong>and</strong> 75points assessed for:1. failure to check a shaft for possible damage, or thepresence of fire or flooding, prior to travelingthrough it. For contest purposes, this check may bedone by placing combustible materials on the cage<strong>and</strong> having the cage lowered to the level to beexplored, then raising it to the collar;2. not having non-sparking tools in a gassy mine orwhen explosive gases are found in a non-gassymine;3. changing conditions of the mine ventilationsystem in such a manner that an explosive mixtureis moved over an ignition source. Changingconditions of the mine ventilation system in such amanner that an explosive mixture is moved overan unexplored area. If a team explores all sides ofan overcast or undercast, both ends of a ventilationshaft, or the top <strong>and</strong> bottom of shafts when theshaft cannot be traveled, the in-between areas areconsidered explored for ventilation purposes.27
