7. Fif teen (15) dis counts will be as sessed for eachde fi ciency not found.8. Five (5) dis counts will be as sessed for each de fi ciencynot cor rected.9. Five (5) dis counts will be as sessed for each monthlycheck not per formed.10. Sucking or blowing on valves with one’s mouth whilemaking checks is prohibited. There will be a ten (10)point discount assessed for each infraction.11. For completion, the contestant must have the apparatusfully assembled with hoses connected to the face piece,attached to the apparatus <strong>and</strong> draped over the cover, <strong>and</strong>all seams must be properly aligned. If the contestantdoes not leave the apparatus in “ready-for-use”condition, a five (5) point discount will be assessed.12. If the problem is not completed in the specified time, anadditional ten (10) discounts will be assessed.JUDGING1. All judges must suc cess fully com plete a Bench train ingcourse as pre scribed by the Con test Di rec tor per the ap -pa ra tus they are go ing to judge.2. Judges must st<strong>and</strong> clear of the con tes tants.3. Prior to <strong>and</strong> be tween each con tes tant, the judges shallper form monthly ap pa ra tus checks <strong>and</strong> cor rect any <strong>and</strong>all un planned de fi cien cies.4. When un planned de fi cien cies are en coun tered, judgesshall stop the clock, in struct con tes tants to turn his/herback to the bench area, at which time the judge will cor -rect the de fi cien cies. Judges shall in struct con tes tantsthat upon turn ing back to face the ap pa ra tus, the clockwill start. If the de fi cien cies are caused by the con tes -tant, the clock will not be stopped.52
