MINE RESCUE DISCOUNTS AND INTERPRETATIONSJudge #1Surface Interpretation1. Apparatus not meeting manufacturer’s life critical speci -fi ca tions dur ing use. This dis count will be ap plied if theteam cap tain or team mem ber does not cor rect it be forethe team goes un der ground.2. Shoul der straps, chest straps, etc., that are twisted or notfas tened. This will de pend on type of ap pa ra tus used; the properpro ce dure will be out lined in the ap pa ra tus sec tion.Once the team has en tered the course, no fur ther pen al -ties can be as sessed by the judges for items 1, 2, 3.4. Holes in the breath ing tubes or straps worn to the ex tentthat they break dur ing work ing of the prob lem whilestill at the fresh air base, should not be dis counted ifthey are re placed prior to start ing work in the mine.5.
