Many attendthe historic churches in downtown Amarillo,several carrying historical markers oreligibility for listing on the National Register<strong>of</strong> Historic Places. First Presbyterian Churchand Polk Street Methodist Church, thecity’s oldest congregation, are immaculateexamples <strong>of</strong> Gothic architecture. Saint Mary’sCathedral dedicated a new building in 2009that is a beautiful structure with modernand classic lines. Central Church <strong>of</strong> Christand First Baptist Church have both recentlyundergone renovations that have improvedaccess yet complimented the originalarchitecture.
