Previously, radio work consisted of consumerproducts like citizens band radios. Thecompany transitioned into commercial 2-waysystems and public safety type radio equipmentsales, service, and installation in 1979.System design has become a part of their businessas communications systems have becomemore sophisticated. They provide communicationequipment and systems for colleges,hospitals, and school campuses. Other customersinclude the construction, farming, andtowing industries. Omega Electronics is adealer for E. F. Johnson Technologies, ICOM,Kenwood, and Vertex Standard equipment.The longevity of Omega Electronics is partlyattributed to staying current with technologyas it enters the marketplace. Today, becausedigital, computer, and network technologyskills are needed to stay current in the industry,Stephen stays educated in the latest innovations.Test equipment has to be up to dateto troubleshoot malfunctioning electronics,consequently Omega Electronics regularlyreinvests into the business to keep theirequipment technically viable.In addition to providing radioequipment for public safety vehicles,Omega Electronics is the contractorand consultant for PANCOM; RegionalPublic Safety Radio CommunicationsSystem administered by PanhandleRegional Planning Commission. Theyare involved with installation of towersites for the PANCOM repeater systemas well as the ongoing repairs andtechnical support. Omega Electronicsalso outfits law enforcement and otheremergency vehicles with light bars,lighting systems, sirens, protectivecages, and video systems.The Bernhardts feel privileged tobe an integral part of outfitting firstresponders for their work in publicsafety and are proud to be working on theirarea wide communications systems.
