Duke believedAmarillo needed a comprehensive, centralized,full-service facility where patients couldreceive quality medical care in the TexasPanhandle without traveling to Dallas orHouston. His idea became a reality when he,Dr. H. Wayne Smith, and Dr. John Milton,formed the Amarillo Diagnostic Clinic, P.A.(ADC) in 1968. In 1971 they opened forbusiness on eleven acres of open prairie at6700 West Ninth Avenue. The facility, strategicallylocated across from the AmarilloMedical Center, was expanded in 1981 and1991. Today comprehensive healthcare underone roof is a reality; ADC is an integral partof a vibrant, medical community that farsurpasses those early dreams.Currently, fifteen highly qualified, boardcertified or board eligible physicians practiceadult general and subspecialty care at ADC.Medical specialties offered by ADC physiciansinclude Endocrinology, Gastroenterology,Infectious Diseases, Pulmonology, andRheumatology. Other specialties are Neurology,Nuclear Medicine, Internal Medicine, andSleep Medicine. Physician Assistants (PAs) andNurse Practitioners (NPs) serve as physicianextenders and provide routineand urgent care for patients byworking under clinical protocolsdeveloped with the physicians.ADC provides a wide range ofmedical and diagnostic servicesincluding a travel clinic, nuclearmedicine, full laboratory services,pulmonary function testing,radiology and imaging, and infusiontherapy. They offer EEG,EMG, and nerve conductionstudies as well as MRI, PET, and CT scanning.Patients can also utilize an onsite, independent,full-service pharmacy and home medicalequipment center (a separate legal entity).The ADC Sleep Disorders Center, accreditedby the American Board of Sleep Medicine,is the only clinic with comprehensive servicesof board certified physicians in internalmedicine, sleep medicine, and pulmonarydiseases. The no-hassle clinic conductsvarious studies, tests, and dispenses CPAPequipment onsite.ADC Endoscopy Specialists (a separate legalentity) is located at 1 Care Circle Drive, theyoffer convenient care in an ambulatory surgicalfacility. ADC physicians, board certified in theirspecialties, provide procedures includingColonoscopy, Esophogogastroduodenoscopy(EGD), and Flexible Sigmoidoscopy in anoutpatient setting.Online services are available to providepatients self service from the home or office atwww.adcpa.com.
