Western Builders was established in 1955by Horace Scott as a design-build firm forcamp housing along the Pacific NorthwestGas Pipeline. Strong leadership and top-notchquality provided by Horace and two of hislong-time business associates, Kerm Albertsonand Clayton Knapp, quickly developed into areputation for excellence and integrity. Theybegan leaving their mark across the countrythrough a relational approach to general contracting,and, in 1973, the company was incorporatedas Western Builders of Amarillo, Inc.Kerm and Clayton acquired ownership inthe company in 1973 and 1984, respectively.They built upon Horace’s belief that “growthand success must come from competence; itmust come from harder work, careful planning,analytical cost accounting, prudent buying,exacting supervision, more competitive workmen,and all the countless other qualities thatcreate greater efficiencies.” These principles arestill the cornerstone of Western Buildersfifty-six years later and serve as our company’sfoundation for distinction as we continue to usethe tools of building to impact lives.Located at the corner of Southeast SeventhAvenue and South Grant Street in the heartof downtown Amarillo’s historic warehousedistrict, Western Builders has grownsubstantially over the years. It is nowgoverned by President Jerry Rohane, P.E.and Vice President/Secretary/Treasurer MikeRobertson.
