The company has evolved from using ropesand pulleys for sign installation to usinghydraulic lift and other state-<strong>of</strong>-the-art equipment.In the early days, Hoarel Sign Co. startedwith neon signs and large building signsincluding large scale business signs for cardealers, motels, service stations, and retailstores. The company has transitioned into afull-service sign business and over the yearshas put up signs Amarilloans regard aslandmarks. The Cox family proudly says theyhave been redecorating skylines in Texas,Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas,and as far away as Washington and Nebraska.Not only has installation <strong>of</strong> signs been modernized,but signs have changed dramatically.The business has gone from producing handpainted, to neon, to LED, to interior or backlit,and reverse lit signs. New technology in theway <strong>of</strong> creating and delivering designs has evenchanged in the last ten years, for example fromfax to now Internet based processes such asscanning and emailing. Today sign makingequipment is also computerized and theirbilling and invoicing has gone from manualmethods to a streamlined computerizedmethod. The sign business has begun to movetoward “going green” and emphasis is beingput into refurbishing signs to reduce additionsto landfills as well as the manufacture <strong>of</strong>more energy efficient signs. Hoarel Sign Co. isworking to become certified and qualified towork on the signs <strong>of</strong> the future.In addition to interior lit and neon signs,Hoarel Sign Co. <strong>of</strong>fers lighted awnings, time andtemperature, electronic message centers, andLED or Neon Channel Letters. Also available iscomputer graphics service, ADA engravedsigns, vehicle decals and wraps, and customvinyl letters and logos. They have qualified,experienced employees and the best equipment,use the finest materials and superiorconstruction to make sure their signs can standup to the Texas Panhandle weather. When acustomer calls, they start a process that is thebeginning <strong>of</strong> a relationship where they visitthe customer’s business, size up the project,develop a comprehensive plan, and submit anestimate. They obtain the necessary permits,fabricate and install the signs, and stand behindtheir work to cement what they hope will be along-term mutually rewarding relationship.Louis Hoarel began the custom <strong>of</strong> belongingto trade associations such as the TexasSign Association (TSA), International SignAssociation (ISA), World Sign Association(WSA), United States Sign Council (USSC),and being involved in economic and civicorganizations in Amarillo like the AmarilloChamber <strong>of</strong> Commerce. Today the Cox familycontinues that tradition and has several awardsfrom the TSA in design and fabrication andboth Gary and Ray have served on numerousboards <strong>of</strong> their trade associations. They are anaccredited Better Business Bureau (BBB) companyand have been finalists two years for theBBB Torch Award. Gary also has served in anadvisory capacity during discussions for formulatingand amending city sign ordinances.The Cox family is proud to have carried onthe Hoarel name that has always signifiedquality.
