The Davis family has been involved with thereal estate industry in Amarillo since 1927when Pat Davis’ grandfather, Mark Davis, Sr.,moved to the city. Pat began his real estatecareer in Dallas, and returned to Amarillo in1984 to work with his father, Mark Davis, Jr., inthe families commercial real estate brokerage,leasing, and management business. He thenfounded Pat Davis Properties in 1989 andexpanded his commercial real estate brokerageinto the previously unfilled niche of institutionalrepresentation in 1990. He further diversifiedhis business in 1993 when he purchased hisfirst commercial office complex with severalpartners in southwest Amarillo. Pat DavisProperties continued along that course, buying“value enhancement” properties with investors,then implementing viable leasing, management,and maintenance programs, growing into oneof the largest commercial real estate firms inAmarillo. It has also expanded into to the Dallasand Phoenix commercial real estate markets.Like other businesses in the Texas Panhandle,Davis attributes diversification as a primaryreason for the survival of his company overthe years.He believes his employees are the firm’sgreatest asset and credits his staff with much ofhis business’ success.
