BSA HEALTHSYSTEMBaptist St. Anthony’s Health System is aChristian healthcare system whose mission isto provide quality healthcare in Christianlove, service, and dignity. In the fifteen yearssince the successful merger of High PlainsBaptist Hospital and St. Anthony’s Hospital,BSA has grown into a healthcare system ofmore than 2,700 employees, 450 physicians,and 200 volunteers. As the largest hospitalin the Texas Panhandle, BSA served 408,187patients in seventeen locations in 2010. Forthe last five years BSA has received the PatientSafety Excellence Award, from the healthcareratings company HealthGrades, Inc., whichplaces the hospital in the top five percent inthe nation for patient safety.Medical services offered by BSA to theAmarillo community are diverse and extensive.Services offered include a twenty-four houremergency room with board certified emergencyphysicians, a state-of-the-art neonatalintensive care unit, and four physician clinicsto meet the needs of patients of all ages. BSAhas expanded beyond the traditional hospitalsetting. Physicians Surgical Hospitals is a jointventure with Amarillo surgeons to provide surgicalservices at two surgical hospitals. Thesetwo sites, Panhandle Surgical Hospital andQuail Creek Surgical Hospital, enable patientsto have a choice in surgical care. Off-site imagingservices at Advanced Imaging Centers ofAmarillo and Texas Diagnostic Imaging Centerand endoscopy services at ADC EndoscopySpecialists are also provided through jointventures with Amarillo physicians. The Don &Sybil Harrington Cancer Center, a nonprofitcommunity cancer center, is an affiliate of BSA.BSA has embraced the importance of state-ofthe-arttechnology by investing in the onlyrobot-assisted surgery program in the Amarilloarea. The daVinci ® SHD Surgical System enablessurgeons to provide a minimally invasive optionfor gynecological or urological surgical procedures.The benefits to patients are smallerincisions, less blood loss, reduced recoverytime, and shorter hospital stays.Twice a year the Amarillo Khiva Templebrings a medical team to Amarillo from theShriners’ Houston Orthopedic Clinic toscreen children who may not otherwisereceive care. The BSA Family Medical Clinicoffers its clinic to allow the Shriners the use ofthe facility to examine the children from thetri-state region for orthopedic problems. BSAis also proud to be one of the Children’sMiracle network (CMN) hospitals in Americaand the only CMN hospital in our region.CMN is a nonprofit organization dedicated tosaving and improving the lives of children byraising funds for children’s hospitals.Thousands of people are helped andhealthcare access has been improved throughcollaboration with social service agencies,nonprofit organizations and healthcare institutions.In 2010, BSA provided $14.2 millionin charity care and $36.5 million in communitybenefits.
