XXVI ANNUAL REPORT GOA UNIVERSITY

P R E F A C E
I have great pleasure in presenting to you the 26th Annual Report of Goa University for
the academic year 2010-2011.
This Annual Report is presented, as per our annual practice, in six parts comprising (I)
University Authorities and Boards, (II) University Departments, Centres and
Programmes, (III) Achievements of the University Faculty, (IV) General Administration,
(V) Affiliated Colleges, and (VI) Recognized Institutions. The Report largely covers the
profiles and activities of the post graduate departments at the University and the
significant achievements of both the members of the faculty and the students. The section
on affiliated colleges mirrors the activities that are undertaken by the professional and
non-professional colleges affiliated to this University.
Goa University is ranked among the top 25 universities in India. Credit for the stature of
the university goes largely to its well-established academic and research programs and
the ability of our faculty to garner substantial extra-mural funding from renowned
national agencies and institutions for research in niche areas. For a small state university,
this is a creditable achievement. This Annual Report reflects the involvement of the
faculty in research publications in reputed national/international journals as well as their
initiative in organizing national and international conferences. The Report also reflects
the myriad academic and co-curricular activities organized by the colleges affiliated to
Goa University, and their significant contribution to the spread of higher education to
every nook and corner of this State.
I would like to record my appreciation and acknowledgment towards the cooperation of
all the teaching and non-teaching staff members involved in the compilation of this
Annual Report.
