DELNET SERVICES
Developing Libraries Network has been offering inter-library loan services to the
subscribing libraries. Goa University Library has access to the various services of DELNET
like “Database of periodical articles”, “Union lists” “Database of Thesis and Dissertations”
and many other databases.
INTERNET BROWSING FACILITY
The library has 30 computers connected to the Internet, which the faculty and students
can use for browsing the Internet. It has access to 2mbps broadband connection in the
campus with Wi-Fi access.
Activities conducted by the library during 2010-2011
8 TH International CALIBER 2011
The Goa University Library conducted the 8 th International CALIBER 2011 (Convention
on Automation of Libraries in Education and Research) in collaboration with the
INFLIBNET Centre, Ahmedabad from 2 nd to 4 th March, 2011 at NIO, Goa. 404 delegates
from India and abroad participated in the conference. The conference was inaugurated by
Prof. Arun Nigavekar in the presence of the Vice Chancellor, Prof Dileep Deobagkar, Dr.
Jagdish Arora, Director, INFLIBNET.
Short Term Course on “Web based Library Services”
Goa University Library conducted a short term course on web based library services from
14.8.2010 to 18.8.2010 for the librarians of affiliated colleges of Goa University in
collaboration with Academic Staff College, Goa University. Twenty persons participated in
the course where they were trained to create web based library services. Resource
persons from other Universities also conducted classes at the course.
Refresher course for librarians
A refresher course was conducted for librarians in collaboration with Academic Staff College,
Goa University from 30.3.2011 to 20.4.2011. 20 Librarians participated in the course.
One day workshop on the use of Scifinder Database was conducted on 24.3.2011 in the
Conference Hall of Goa University for the students and faculty of science departments. About
50 students and 16 faculties attended the workshop.
Regular orientation sessions are also being conducted for students of Goa University.
