Microbial diversity: Coastal, open-ocean and extreme ecosystems. Ecology of salt pans of<br />

Goa-India vis-a-vis its impact on community structure of Halophilic Archaea, pigments in<br />

Haloarchaea; Microbial conversions, remediation of metals, organometals, organic<br />

aliphatic and aromatic pollutants; Biosorption of heavy metals using bacterial, fungal,<br />

Haloachaeal systems, Identification and characterization of relevant microbes;<br />

Bioprospecting for microbial enzymes including extremozymes, antimicrobial<br />

metabolites, bioplastic, exopolysaccharide, bioactive compounds, pigments, biosorbs;<br />

Molecular microbiology of bacterial fish pathogens.<br />

• Saroj Bhosle, Anoxygenic phototrophic bacterial primary productivity and studies<br />

• I. Furtado and Saroj Bhosle (members of nano mission), DST nano mission project<br />
