Directorate of Students’ Welfare and Cultural Affairs<br />
The welfare activities of the students are looked after by the Directorate of Students’<br />
Welfare and Cultural Affairs.<br />
1. Election for Executive Body of Goa University Students’ Council for the year 2010-<br />
2011 was held on 6 th October, 2010.<br />
2. Election for Post Graduate Students Union of Goa University for the year 2010-<br />
2011 was held on 20 th August, 2010.<br />
3. Student Aid Fund: Financial assistance was given to 136 Post Graduate students<br />
under this scheme to meet their educational expenses.<br />
4. Earn While You Learn Scheme: Eighteen Post Graduate Students were engaged<br />
under this scheme for academic jobs on the campus and paid remuneration<br />
towards their contribution.<br />
5. Plateaunica 2010-11 was organized on 10 th to 12 th March 2011 in the Silver<br />
Jubilee Hall, Goa University. The Plateaunica was organized to bring together all<br />
the Post-Graduate students and to enable them to test their creativity and talents<br />
in the fields of Arts, Culture and Music. Several on-stage and off-stage events were<br />
held.<br />
During 2010-11, the Students’ Safety Insurance Scheme of the New India Assurance<br />
Company Ltd. was made available to the Post Graduate/Under-Graduate students of<br />
Goa University and the staff of the affiliated Colleges.<br />
PUBLICATION UNIT<br />
Publication Unit at the Academic Co-ordination and Public Relations section compiles<br />
information pertaining to the various academic programmes and projects at the<br />
University for publication in the annual Handbook, Annual Report, and other occasional<br />
publications. The Unit also publishes a quarterly News Bulletin on the activities of Goa<br />
University.<br />
CAREER COUNSELLING & PLACEMENT CELL<br />
Goa University has established a Career Counselling & Placement Cell with a view to<br />
counsel students especially with regard to emerging careers, impart them soft skills and<br />
act as an interface between the industry and the students. The objectives of the Cell are<br />
To disseminate information on placement avenues in academia/industry/research<br />
institutions.<br />
To conduct training workshops soft skills with a view to prepare students for the<br />
rigours of screening tests, group discussions, personal interviews, etc.<br />
To conduct seminars, workshops on emerging professions, professionalism,<br />
leadership, entrepreneurship, etc.<br />
To act as an interface between industry and the students and facilitate industryinstitution<br />
linkages.<br />
To facilitate campus-based placement activity.<br />
The Cell facilitates pre-placement and placement activity both on and off the campus and<br />
invites industrial/commercial establishments to avail the services of the Cell for campus<br />
placements.<br />
