“Unless a wheat of grain falls on the ground <strong>and</strong> dies,<br />

it remains only a single grain;<br />

but if it dies, it yields a rich harvest.”<br />

(John 12:24, 25)<br />

However the whole creation rests on the principle of servant leadership <strong>and</strong> dying for others;<br />

which arise out of the fundamental character of God as Love. In order to create souls with free<br />

will <strong>and</strong> freedom even to exist, the only reality God himself had to contract <strong>and</strong> withdraw<br />

himself to provide space to create within him. This contraction is called Tzimtzum in Hebrew.<br />

Tzimtzum - Creation "Out of Nothing"<br />

In the beginning there was only God... <strong>and</strong> nothing else. God, or Ein Sof, was an all-encompassing Divine<br />

Presence/Light called Or Ein Sof (the Light of Infinity). <strong>Sin</strong>ce nothing but God existed before creation, when God<br />

decided to create yesh (i.e., "something") from its Ein (i.e., "nothing"), God needed to "make a space" or to<br />

"provide room" for that which was not God (i.e., otherness). God therefore "emptied himself" by contracting his<br />

infinite light to create a conceptual space for the creation of the universe. In a great cosmic flash, God then<br />
