ICT for Library and Information Professionals: A Training Package for Developing Countries Module 4 - Annex 03 When WinISIS is installed, the WinISIS directory consisting of sub directories and some files will be automatically created in the WinISIS root directory (Fig. 01). The main directory (winisis) contains the executable file (winisis.exe) and related files. You must not edit or remove any of these files other than the SYSPAR.PAR file. Fig. 01 WinISIS root directory Program (winisis\prog): contains application programs Menu (winisis\menu): contains menus, databases and system tables Message (winisis\msg): contains system messages databases Work files (winisis\work): contains work files generated by WinISIS Database (winisis\data): contains database files. Two sample databases CDS and THES are provided with installation disks. It can also contain other subdirectories where different databases can be created. There is no SYS subdirectory as in the DOS version. But there are some additional subdirectories, BG, DOC, CTL3D and PLUGIN, which are automatically created. The BG subdirectory contains all the image files, which are used in the sample databases. The DOC subfolder holds all the documentation files. The CTL3D contains two Dynamic Link Library (.dll) files, which are essential for WinISIS to operate properly. The PLUGIN subfolder is empty when you first install WinISIS. It is intended to hold plugin programs that will enhance WinISIS. But it is beyond the scope of this course to discuss implementation of plugins.
