Mokhtar Awad is a research fellow in the Program on Extremism at the<br />
George Washington University Center for Cyber and Homeland Security.<br />
An expert in Islamist and Salafist groups in the Middle East and regional politics,<br />
he focuses on emerging violent extremist organizations and their ideas.<br />
He has published analyses and completed field research on Islamist groups<br />
and political dynamics.<br />
■ KATHERINE BAUER<br />
A senior fellow at The Washington Institute, Katherine Bauer is a former<br />
Treasury official who served as the department’s financial attaché in Jerusalem<br />
and the Gulf. She also served as the senior policy advisor for Iran in the<br />
Office of Terrorist Financing and Financial Crimes.<br />
■ ANNA BORSHCHEVSKAYA<br />
Anna Borshchevskaya is the Ira Weiner Fellow at The Washington Institute,<br />
focusing on Russia’s policy toward the Middle East. Her analysis is published<br />
widely in journals such as The New Criterion, Turkish Policy Quarterly, and<br />
Middle East Quarterly. She also conducts translation and analysis for the U.S.<br />
Army’s Foreign Military Studies Office and its flagship publication, Operational<br />
Environment Watch, and writes a foreign affairs column for Forbes.<br />
