design. The hotel in Nuremberg, for example, is dominated by
fabrics with tendril patterns, velvet covers, Baroque-style
chairs and chandeliers. The new hotel, which in addition to
breakfast cafeteria and lobby bar also has a small meeting
room, is targeted at price-conscious business travelers and
short-stay vacationers
10th NH in Berlin
In December 2010, the Spanish hotel group NH Hoteles opened
the NH Berlin Potsdamer Platz, making it their tenth property
operated in the German capital. The new 3-star B&B hotel is
located at the heart of the city in Berlin-Mitte. The Brandenburg
Gate, fashionable Friedrichstrasse, and the Tempodrom event
center are only a short walking distance away. The NH Berlin
Potsdamer Platz has 89 rooms, a breakfast lounge, and a bar. In
summertime, guests may relax on the secluded terrace. The
hotel’s public-access areas have free W-LAN Internet connectivity
and two computer stations in the lobby for guests.
Jumeirah to set up business in Panama City
Jumeirah has plans to open a hotel in Panama City inside of the
next three to four years. The luxury hotel group seated in Dubai
has come to an agreement to that effect with Grupo Mall,
developers of residential complexes and multi-purpose real
estates projects in Spain and Mexico. Jumeirah will be in charge
of managing a luxury hotel in the Los Faros de Panama complex
consisting of three towers. Next to residences and office
rooms, the main tower will also be home to the Jumeirah Los
Faros de Panama, a luxurious city hotel with 400 rooms and
suites, a Spa, fitness and recreational facilities and a 3,000-sqm
conference center.
Fab desert resort
The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain opened in December of last
year in the Sonora desert in the western part of the US. Nestled
against the Tortolita Mountains near Tucson/Arizona, the impressive
natural landscape dominates the architecture of this
hotel adapted to the surrounding landscape. Natural elements
such as stones, straw-clad walls, clay bricks and tiles reflect the
beauty of the surrounding desert in the hotel’s 250 rooms. The
Ritz-Carlton terrain extends over 3.4 square kilometers and is
home to numerous local wild animals. Thousands of Saguaro
cactuses, some of which are up to 15 meters high, form a most
impressive setting for the hotel.
One&Only The Palm to open in Dubai on 10/10/10
The One&Only The Palm is designated to open officially in
crisis-torn Dubai on October 10, 2010. The architecture of this
new One&Only is marked by Moorish-Arabian influences; the
hotel is situated in lush park landscapes. The Manor House
features 35 suites and apartments; another six smaller buildings
have between eight and ten suites each.
Sol Meliá group opens first hotel in China
In December of last year, the 140-meter-high 30-story Gran
Meliá Shanghai took up operations as Shanghai’s highest hotel.
This is the first step taken by Sol Meliá on the Chinese market.
