and extending over altogether 5,000 square meters of space.<br />
Their capacities range from 20 to 150 persons. In addition,<br />
there’s a pillarless first-floor ballroom accommodating up to 800<br />
persons on 740 sqms of space.<br />
Two hotel legends return<br />
London’s hotel legend The Savoy, A Fairmont Managed Hotel is<br />
coming back: After being renovated for almost two years at<br />
costs amounting to GBP 100 million, the luxury hotel with 268<br />
rooms from summer 2010 will certainly reclaim its position as<br />
one of the leading venues for high-profile social events in the<br />
British capital. The extensive renovation encompassed the<br />
entire building. The legendary The Peace Hotel in Shanghai has<br />
also been thoroughly renovated and will reopen in the second<br />
quarter of this year under its new name Fairmont Peace Hotel.<br />
The 12-story building with 269 rooms is located prominently on<br />
the 1.5 kilometer riverwalk The Bund on the Huangpu river<br />
facing Pudong.<br />
Two "new" Fortuna Hotels<br />
In January of this year, two new hotels were added to the<br />
portfolio of one of the brands operated by the Czech hotel<br />
operator CPI Hotels. The former 3-star Quality Hotel Prague and<br />
HOTEL NEWS<br />
Comfort Hotel have been rebranded and reopened flying the<br />
Fortuna Hotels as 3-star Fortuna Hotel City and Fortuna Hotel<br />
West respectively. In spite of having been rebranded, the two<br />
hotels will retain both new and old names to the end of 2010.<br />
"Ski in <strong>–</strong> Ski out"<br />
The Ritz-Carlton Highlands on Lake Tahoe in California’s Northstar-at-Tahoe<br />
skiing area was opened in December of last year,<br />
and it defines itself as exclusive "Ski in <strong>–</strong> Ski out" resort. Construction<br />
costs amounted to USD 300 million. The interior<br />
design of the 170 rooms, 23 luxurious condos and 25 Ritz-<br />
Carlton Destination Club units is an homage to traditional lodges<br />
built in America’s west at the turn of the 20th century.<br />
Granite from local quarries, the use of recycled steel as well as<br />
wood and entire tree trunks from the Sierra Tahoe give the<br />
LEED-certified hotel built according to environmentally compatible<br />
standards a rustic, uncomplicated and yet elegant ambiance.<br />
After an exciting day on the skiing slopes, guests may<br />
unwind at the 1,500-sqm Highlands Spa.
